The Chimu kingdom was built on the remains of the Moche kingdom, settling the same northern valleys of Peru, basing its economy on the productivity of these coastal valleys as well as on fishing, just as their Moche ancestors had done. The Chimu left places like the city of Chan Chan as evidence of the high level of development they attained. An administrative and urban center, Chan Chan is located between Trujillo and Huanchaco, It is the biggest adobe city in the world. Another legacy of the Chimu civilization is the Temples of the Sun and the Moon, also made of adobe. These ancient ceremonial centers are the highest adobe structures found in this part of the world.
