| Reserva de Biosfera son porciones de territorio de un país que han sido propuestas por los gobiernos nacionales y reconocidas por la UNESCO.
Su objetivo es conciliar la conservación de la naturaleza y el desarrollo socioeconómico. Se establecen sobre zonas ecológicamente representativas o de valor único, en ambientes terrestres, costeros y marinos, en las cuales la integración de la población humana y sus actividades son esenciales.
Las RBs deben combinar tres funciones básicas: 1. Conservación de la diversidad genética, de especies, ecosistemas y paisajes y de la diversidad cultural; 2. Desarrollo ambientalmente sostenible de las poblaciones humanas de la RB y de su entorno; 3. Apoyo logístico para respaldar y fomentar las actividades de investigación básica y aplicada, de educación, de formación y de monitoreo relacionadas con las actividades de interés local, nacional e internacional.
Estas funciones se organizan territorialmente a través de una zonificación espacial, basadas en las aptitudes y vocaciones ambientales. En la zona denominada "zona núcleo" dominan la función de conservación y frecuentemente se consolidan sobre Areas Naturales Protegidas preexistentes, en la "zona de amortiguación" o "zona tampón" domina el apoyo logístico y en la "zona de transición", las actividades asociadas al desarrollo sostenible.
El Perú cuenta con tres de estas Reservas de Biosfera, el Manu, el Huascaran y la del Noroeste, ellas por su alto nivel de diversidad natural y cultural se convierten en una experiencia inmejorable para todo amante de la naturaleza. |

Day 16 | Cusco
Morning free. City tour in the afternoon.
Day 17 | Cusco – San Pedro
We leave Cusco early in the morning in an over landing vehicle. We'll pass over interesting inner Andean valleys and Andean communities. We also visit the interesting pre-Inca tombs of Ninamarka known as Chullpas, and then we continue to the colonial town of Paucartambo, where we have lunch after a walk in the town. From here we continue to Acjanaco pass at 3500 meters above sea level where a ranger station marks the southern most point of the park, here we start descending into the Amazon basing through the cloud forest rich in endemic species like Cock of the Rocks, Spectacle bear, Orchids, Tree ferns, Bromeliads, etc. to arrive to our destination, the lodge Orchids of San Pedro where we overnight.
Day 18 | San Pedro – Pilcopata – Erika lodge
Today we wake up early to observe the Cock of the Rocks, Peru's national bird, from a platform, the male birds are a vibrant reddish orange, and as several dozen come together for an exhibition of a mating ritual dance in a place called lek, the males display their crest, showing off and posturing for the females, the females, fewer in number, watch to select the most suitable males. After breakfast we continue in our overland transport down the narrow road between waterfalls and canyons toward the town of Pilcopata and then to Atalaya port, here we board our covered, outboard motor boat and head down the Madre de Dios river for about 30 minutes to Erika private reserve, observing the diversity of birds like cormorants, herons, vultures, etc., overnight at Erika lodge, walks available.
Optional 2: River rafting (class I and II rapids) for about 1 ½ hour from Pilcopata town to the port of Atalaya, passing the spectacular Koñeq canyon.
Day 19 | Erika lodge – Boca Manu
Early wake up to board our boat. After 15 minutes ride, we will arrive to a small Collpa, which is a wall of clay in the river banks where parrots and eventually macaws feed for minerals and salt to neutralize the toxins they ingest in their diet. Come back to Erika for breakfast and later on the day we take a 5 hours ride down the Alto Madre de Dios river observing wild life to Boca Manu village, situated a short distance from the confluence of Manu river with Alto Madre de Dios river, overnight in a lodge 10 minutes down stream from Boca Manu. Walks through the lodge's trail system.
Optional: Canopy tour, our guests traverse from tree to tree and platform to platform using pulleys on horizontal traverse cables, as they sail through the treetops of the tropical rainforest canopy, and over the trails below. Expert guides assist you in this exciting journey through the different layers of the forest, until you rappel down the last platform back to the forest floor.
Day 20 | Boca Manu – Manu National Park
This day we go upstream Manu River into the Manu national park tourist use area. After register in the official tourist logbook at Limonal rangers headquarters and eating breakfast we follow the Manu river until we arrive to El Salvador oxbow lake, at Sajino Safari Lodge (double screened rooms, dining room, bathrooms, radio communication is available) where spent the next 2 nights. This boat ride gives us the opportunity to observe the immensity of the rainforest and the diversity of birdlife, reptiles and mammals. We arrive early in the afternoon to Sajino Safari Lodge from where we'll organize afternoon walks in the trail system. Night walk available.
Day 21 | Manu National Park
Today we spent the day in the tourist area of Manu national park, performing activities like walks, use of the catamaran at El Salvador oxbow lake in the search for the 2 most remarkable inhabitants of this particular environment, the Giant otter (Pteronura brasiliensis) and the Black caiman (Melanosuchus niger), beside many species of monkeys, birds, etc. we will also visit the Otorongo oxbow lake on the other side of the river 20 minutes down stream from our camp to go on the observation platform at 15 meters of altitude and use the trail system there.
Day 22 | Manu National Park – Boca manu
This day we still have time to enjoy Manu Park, its primary and secondary forest, swamps, wildlife etc. at midday we start descending Manu River continuing our search this time from the boat, until our arrival to the lodge in Boca Manu where we overnight. Night walk in the lodge trail system.
Day 23 | Boca Manu - Cusco
Breakfast in the lodge. Transfer to the airport 15 minutes downstream by boat to take the plain that will take us back to Cusco.
Day 24 | Cusco
Day free to do your own search in the Imperial Capital of the Incas, its restaurants, bar and pubs. We suggest a visit to the traditional district of San Blas or the Pre-spaniard art museum.
Day 25 | Cusco – Lima
Transfer to Cusco airport, flight back to Lima and transfer in at arrival to Lima. End of our services. |

Day 1 | Lima - Huaraz
Transfer to bus terminal in Lima to take the imperial class bus to Huaraz. At arrival in Huaraz transfer in, check in and introductory walk in the city. At night talk about the activities of the next days by the local guide.
Day 2 | Huaraz
Free day for acclimatizing. Afternoon walk into town of Huaraz and the nearby points of interest.
Day 3 | Huaraz - Llamacorral (3800 masl)
Early morning departure to the town of Cashapampa where we meet our mules and arrieros with the adequate equipment to start the trek. After 4 hour we arrive to our camp site in Llamcorral. We camp there.
Day 4 | Llamaccorral - Taullipampa
Our trek continues through the Valley of Santa Cruz crossing in the way Icchicocha and Jatuncocha lakes. On the way we take a trail to the base camp to climb Alpamayo peak (4600 masl) and enjoy the great views of the snowy peaks in the Arhuaycocha valley like Artesanrayu, Alpamayo and Oitaraju peaks, and finally camp at the base of the Taulliraju peak. Arrival to Taullipampa in the afternoon.
Day 5 | Taullipampa - Huaripampa (3600 masl)
Today we continue our journey to Huaripampa, crossing the Punta Union pass at 4750 meters above sea level on the longest and tiring day of this trek, but with amazing views of the peaks Taulliraju, Alpamayo, Piramide, Santa Cruz and others. Arrival to Huaripampa in the afternoon.
Day 6 | Huaripampa - Vaqueria - Huaraz
We start the final climb to the town of Vaqueria for about 3 hours; bus back to Huaraz. On the way we'll observe the beauty of the peaks Huascaran and Huandoy surrounded by the Llanganuco lake. Arrival to Huaraz in the afternoon. Dinner at night.
Day 7 | Huaraz - Lima
Transfer out to the bus terminal in Huaraz, local bus to Lima imperial class. Transfer in at arrival to Lima.
Day 8 | Lima-Tumbes-Zorritos
Transfer to Lima Airport and flight to the city Tumbes. Upon arrival, private transfer to the district of Villa Primavera. Arrival to “Puerto 25“ and visit to the National Sanctuary. The visit is made in a rowboat. We will stop in a platform in the mangrove and make a guided walk about 50 meters to enjoy nature and environment. Return to the hotel in Zorritos just in front of this beautiful sea.
Day 9 | Zorritos – Reserve Zone -Tumbes
Breakfast early in the morning and transfer to the city of Tumbes in a 4x4 van. We will cross Pampas de Hospital to get to the Reserve Area of Tumbes, which has a Pacific Tropical Forest ecosystem. After arrival to Caucho, we will camp and have lunch. In the afternoon, walk along Quebrada de las Pavas. Dinner and fire lit.
Day 10 | Reserve Zone – Tumbes - Máncora
Very early in the morning, before breakfast, walk along Quebrada la Unión, where the Howling Monkey of Tumbes is frequently seen. Breakfast and walk to the crystalline water pond where we will be able to enjoy nature. Lunch and optional bicycle ride to Pampas de Hospital. Transfer to Máncora. Free time.
Day 11 | Máncora
Free time to enjoy this wonderful beach or any other beaches, such as Punta Sal, Punta Mero, Cancas etc. We recommended different activities around the beach, such us Kite surfing, surfing, fishing and bird watching in the area and more.
Day 12 | Organos – Tumbes - Lima
Transfer to Tumbes airport and flight to Lima. At arrival transfer in.
Day 13 | Lima – Cusco - Ollantaytambo
Transfer to Lima airport and flight to Cusco in the morning. At arrival to Cusco transfer to the sacred Valley of the Incas. In the morning visit to the archeological complex of Pisac . Lunch included on the way Pisac- Urubamba in Tunupa restaurant (novo-andina cousine), in the afternoon visit to the Ollantaytambo complex. Overnight there.
Day 14 | Ollantaytambo – Machu Picchu
In the morning train to Aguas Calientes, at arrival transfer to our hotel. For the afternoon we suggested a visit to Mandor water falls. Return to Aguas Calientes and overnight there.
Day 15 | Machu Picchu – Cusco
Morning visit to Machu Picchu complex at sunrise and then time free to enjoy the complex on your own. In the afternoon return to Aguas Calientes and train to Ollantaytambo, from there bus to our hotel in Cusco. Night free.
