| YEAR OF THE CENTENNIAL OF THE DISCOVERY OF MACHU PICCHU FOR THE WORLD |

The Inca citadel of Machu Picchu was for many years covered by the forest and, although many local farmers new about the existence of Machu Picchu and some of them had visited the place, it was in 1911 when American Explorer Hiram Bingham, with the support of the Yale University, lead the expedition that made this magic place known through the world, considered now a days, cultural heritage of humanity and one of the new seven wonders of the modern world. Commemorating 100 years of this event, Peru is preparing to celebrate, and thus we have consecrated 2011 as Year of the Centennial of the Discovery of Machu Picchu for the World. No doubt is a great moment to visit Machu Picchu, a great moment to visit Peru. We look forward to see you soon !!! |

CONSERVATION AND BIRDWATCHING WORKSHOP AT THE MACHU PICCHU HISTORIC SANCTUARY
November 15th to 18th, 2010 |

| One Earth Peru participated in this workshop which was a complete success; with an excellent organization, the workshop focused on themes such as interpretation, observation and recognition techniques of birds as well as the importance of the birdwatching activity for the conservation and the development of the sustainable tourism in the Machu Picchu Historic Sanctuary. |

| Forty five hundred years after first riding waves in reed boats and 45 years after the First World Contest was held in Perú, surfers from this proud nation took back a small but precious piece of their gold – as Team Gold Medalists in the 2010 Billabong ISA World Surfing Games. |

MARIO VARGAS LLOSA - 2010 NOBEL PRIZE IN LITERATURE
The Nobel Prize in Literature 2010 was awarded to Peruvian
Mario Vargas Llosa "for his cartography of structures of power
and his trenchant images of the individual's resistance, revolt,
and defeat".
