In Pilcopata there is a colonizers population that came in the 70s to make a living through the timber industry passing the dirt road that heads to the Madre de Dios valley. Nowadays, with the time and creation of the park this business is not longer so profitable and many of these populations focus on harvesting farm crops like manioc, pineapple and coca leaves.
