| This is an excellent 3-day alternative to the Inca Trail and offers the opportunity to see a nice Inca complex and little traveled parts of the Andes and the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Finally the way leads us to Ollantaytambo, from where we take the train to the Ancient Citadel of Machu Picchu. Huchuy Qosqo is an imposing piece of ancient architecture that includes a large open ceremonial center, from where we enjoy a panoramic view of the Sacred Valley of the Incas, the Vilcanota River and the snow capped mountains - The highest peaks of the Andes. |

Day 1 / Cusco - Tauqaq - Pucamarca - Huchuy Qosqo
Early morning we pick you up from your hotel, we pass along Cachimayo until Chinchero; then we continue our journey to Tauqaq village located in the border of the Piuray Lagoon. Here the group starts to trek. We walk for 3 hours to Tauqaq Pass (4,000 meters above sea level), here we see to the south the mountain ranges of Veronika, Pitusiray and Sahuasiray snowy peaks. Then, we walk down to the community of Pucamarca, we follow the remains of an ancient Inca bridge and trail. This canyon is surrounded by majestic rocks and boulders; we will arrive in Huchuy Qosqo, which is an Inca Archaeological Complex with an imposing architecture that includes a large open ceremonial center from where we could have a panoramic view of the Sacred Valley of the Incas, the Vilcanota River and the snow capped Vilcanota mountain range. We camp here at Huchuy Qosqo. (L, D)
Day 2 / Huchuy Qosqo - Lamay - Ollantaytambo - Aguas Calientes Town
After breakfast we will enjoy a guided tour and then we will continue our way to Lamay at 3,000 meters / 9,853 feet above sea level. From Lamay, we will travel to the village of Ollantaytambo using our private transportation; there we will take the train to Aguas Calientes, where we will spend the night in a nice hotel or hostel. Day 3 / Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Cusco
After breakfast, we will take the bus up to Machu Picchu - The Lost City of the Incas. We will enjoy the guided tour of the Ancient Sanctuary Citadel; there is an optional hike for the more energetic people in the group to the top of Huayna Picchu Mountain, the pyramid-shaped mountain that overlooks Machu Picchu. Afterwards, we will take the bus back down to Aguas Calientes town where we can enjoy a relaxing soak in the local hot springs. Later in the afternoon we will take the train back to Cusco and then transfer to your hotel. (B)

- ORIGINAL PASSPORT. (Mandatory)
- A medium day pack. (If you have an extra porter bring additional backpack of duffel bag)
- Sleeping Bag. (To include in your backpack if you have your extra porter)
- Poncho or rain jacket. (Especially in January, February, March, August, September, October, November and December) (You can buy plastic ponchos)
- Strong footwear, ideally for trekking or sport shoes.
- One complete change of clothing. (Trousers, T-shirt, shorts and underwear, beanie, scarf, gloves, fleece sweaters, hat)
- Flashlight and batteries. (One per person)
- Camera, film and extra batteries. (The batteries consume more quickly under cold conditions)
- Sun block.
- Insect repellent.
- Toiletries, towel and toilet paper.
- Snacks: biscuits, energy bars, chocolate, etc.
- Swimsuit. (If you plan on visiting the hot springs at Aguas Calientes after the trek)
